Meet Miss K!
Karen Camp's teaching experience in the arts exceeds 25 years. A student of jazz, ballet, tap, and modern dance, Miss K was introduced to tap dance at age 3.
After graduating from Empire State University with a Bachelor of Science in The Arts, her teaching expanded from the private sector into public. She is currently in her tenth year with Tapestry Charter School where she initially served as the middle school and high school dance teacher, and currently the teacher of performance art - an interdisciplinary genre in which her students use dramatic performance for social engagement, activism, art and literacy.
Her teaching philosophy incorporates a shared sense of responsibility in the classroom during the learning process where dedication & commitment, lead to character & performance.
"Dance class isn't just about moving to a beat, it's about instilling an appreciation for the art form and the genre(s) you're studing, along with learing the value of camaraderie while developing a skill" ~Karen camp
